Ideas about satan that are not Biblical;
1. The idea that he is an error of the mortal mind.
2. That he is an abstract power.
3. A being with hoofs, horns, a tail and persian shoes holding a pitchfork.

The origin of satan;
1. Creared by God, (Psalm 148:2-5)
2. The Bible declares that everything that God created was good. Therefore God did not creare satan evil. Ezekiel 28:12-19 gives a descripton of satan as God created him originally.
3. The myatery of how satan became evil is just as puzzling as Adam and Eve's fall. God had given this angel everything and on his own free will he became God's #1 enemy.
4. The reason for his fall was pride and selfifh ambition(Isa.14:13-14).

His character is revieled in the Bible through the names given to him in the Bible;
1. Lucifer
2. Satan
3. Devil,it means stander and accuser.
* He is the accuser of the bretheren (Rev.12:10 and also with job).
* He also accused God to man in Gen.3:4-5)
4. Serpent; The name denotes crookedness, deceitfulness and guile (Rev.12:0; 20:3).
* The first time that we see satan in the Bible is as a serpent (Gen.3:1-15). The serpent must not be looked at as the satan himself but as a creature that was used of satan to decieve eve.
* The result of the curse upon the serpent (Gen.3:14).
* (Gen.3:1-5), A picture of what the serpent was like. before the curse.

5. The dragon(The name in the greek means "sea monster"), Rev.12:7,9; Rev.20:2. The name is thought to be refered to his power(which is nothing compared to God). This is clearly seen in (Rev.13:2).

6. Beelzebub or Beelzebul; It means "lord of flies" or "lord of the dunghill". Here he is seen as the prince of the demons(Mat.10:25; 12:24).

7. Belial; It means "good for nothing" (Det.13:13, judges 20:13, I Sam.10:23).

8. Tempter; Mat.4:3, I Thes.3:5.

9. Wicked, evil and lawless one; I John 5:19, 2 Thes.2:8, Mat.13:19.

10. Prince of this world(the system); John 12:31, John 14:30, John 16:11.

11. Prince of the power of the air; This shows his rule over the spirits that share his sin.Eph.2:2, 6:12, Rev.12:7.

12. Deceiver; Rev.12:9, Rev.20:2,3,10.

13. The accuser; Job 1:10-11, Rev.12:10.

14. Angel of light(disquised); 2 Cor.11:13-15.

15.Murderer; John 8:44, John 10:10.

16. Father of lies; John 8:44, Mat.4:6.

17. A roaring lion; This expresses his fierceness. I Pet.5:8.

18. Abbadon in Hrbrew or Apollyon in the greek(Destroyer); Rev. 19:11.

Satan has been defeated;

1. Cast out of heaven.
2. Cursed in the garden of eden.
3. Defeated by Chist in the wilderness when he tried to sway Jesus from His mission(Mat.4:3-11).
4. Judged and defeated at the cross; John 12:31, 16:11, Heb.2:14, Col.2:15.

His destiny;

1. Finally cast out of heaven(Rev.12:7-9)
2. Will be confined to the bottemless pit for one thousand years(Rev.20:1-3).
3. He will be cinsigned to the lake of fire and brimstone to be tormented for ever(Rev.20:10).

His limitations;

1.He is noy omnipotent.
2. He is nor omnicient.
3. He is not omnipresent.
4. He has been defeated.

The study of angels;

Definition; "Malak" in the hebrew and "angelos" in the greek. They both mean "messenger".

* The Holy angels are messengers of God and the fallen angels are messengers of satan.

1) Their Origen;

A. They were created by God(Neh. 9:6, Psalm 148:2,5; Col.1:16).

B They were created before the earth was created(Job 38:4-7).

C. We know that satan was already in existance and in rebellion by Gen.3.

2) Their nature;

A. They are spiritual beings(Psalm 104:4), although they have been known to look like men(Heb.13:2,Luke 1:26,27; John 20:12)

B. Jesus said spirits have no flesh and bone,(luke 24:27-29).

C They are not to be worshipped(Rom.1:25, Col.2:18, Rev.19:10).

D. They are a company not a race.
***Luke 20:34-36
* They were all created at once.
* They dont die.
* Jesus daid that they do not marry.
